Duties & Responsibilities
  • Under supervision assist with developing, planning, designing, and conducting advanced research, review progress and evaluate results.
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining unique mouse models. This includes echocardiography and tissue Doppler, vasodilation ex vivo and in vivo, myocardial infarction, and hindlimb ischemic surgery.
  • Maintain clear, detailed laboratory notebooks with experimental procedures, calculations, and data. Prepares data for computer input and record computer output.
  • Assist with compiling data and generating computerized statistical data for analytical purposes using software packages.
  • Refine, adapt, and develop procedures or techniques to fit specific experiment requirements, modify existing equipment or designs and fabricate requisite equipment.
  • Recommend improvements and new protocols and procedures as needed.
  • Assist students and staff in the operation of equipment and/or in the performance of technical procedures.
  • Assist with ensuring regulatory compliance of the research program.
  • Maintain detailed records of controlled substances used in the laboratory, package waste material, and arrange for disposal according to established procedures.
  • Contribute to deriving, analyzing, and formatting data for publications, presentations, and grant proposals.
  • Assist with the acquisition of research funding.
  • Participate in presenting research findings at conferences, and contribute to national meeting presentations.
  • Assist with manuscript preparation for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Clean, sterilize, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment, machinery and instruments used for research.
  • Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
