- Perform geotechnical modeling and analysis using industry standard software including but not limited to Slide2, RS2, Settle3, LPILE, APILE, GROUP, etc.
- Provide design recommendations for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and embankments.
- Perform construction monitoring and quality assurance on active construction sites for projects including but not limited to subgrade reviews, pile installation, anchor testing, seepage cutoff wall construction, and geomembrane installation.
- Perform dam safety inspections for existing dams.
- Develop project-specific design criteria using relevant design codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Collect, review, and organize historical project data, including drawings, reports, and specifications.
- Prepare geotechnical data and design reports as well as provide geotechnical/geological contributions to design documentation reports for multidisciplinary projects.
- Collaborate with Design Technology staff to prepare and revise project drawings.
- Communicate directly with multidisciplinary engineering teams to interpret geotechnical/geological conditions and their implications on design and construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological or Civil Engineering (with a geotechnical focus) preferred. A Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering would be considered an asset but is not required.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Professional Engineer (preferably P.E. in at least one State; however, a P.Eng. in at least one Province/Territory would be considered an asset).
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience. Experience with executing subsurface geotechnical investigations for dam projects would be considered a tremendous asset.
- Proficiency in field logging, classification, in situ and laboratory testing of soil and rock using a variety of drilling and testing techniques.
- Familiarity with relevant design codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in interpreting and communicating design intent from contract documents, plans, and specifications.
