This role is in the R&D Engineering team of the Access Solutions division. This group is responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of products from ideation to market release and beyond. The group also serves new product development projects through concept generation, design, prototyping, and manufacturing transfer. The engineer will work within a team of other engineers and cross-functional teams to compile, analyze, and report operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products, processes, and materials. In addition, the engineer will have an opportunity to work with the appropriate government bodies to obtain regulatory approval, and to issue patents in conjunction with the IP department.Please note that this is a 2-year contract opportunityAt Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy.   • Fully participate in project teams to contribute the necessary technical work related to product design and development.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the project team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.

  • Gather requirements from internal and external sources to accurately capture user needs and ensure products are meeting them.

  • Generate and review detailed engineering documentation (e.g. technical reports, DHF, DMR) and ensure compliance with quality systems and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and proactively address unsafe working conditions.
  • Other duties as required, including leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 2-4 years related working experience, or equivalent
  • Proven track record of leading product development projects from concept to market release, with strong expertise in regulatory compliance and quality management systems (e.g. 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485).
  • Experience working within a quality management system and expertise in generating and reviewing engineering documentation (e.g. technical reports, DHF, DMR), in compliance with design controls
  • Ability to work independently and within a diverse group of Engineers
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written) with the ability to present technical data to cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Extensive experience in medical device R&D, with a focus on prototyping, testing, and development of catheter devices

While relevant work experience is required, we are looking for candidates who exhibit a positive attitude and willingness to learn and accept new challenges.Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute subsurface geotechnical investigations. Specifically, preparing subcontractor agreements, soil and rock core logging, collecting disturbed and undisturbed samples for index and high-end laboratory testing, supervising in situ testing, and developing laboratory testing schedules to suit project-specific requirements and budgets.
  • Perform geotechnical modeling and analysis using industry standard software including but not limited to Slide2, RS2, Settle3, LPILE, APILE, GROUP, etc.
  • Provide design recommendations for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and embankments.
  • Perform construction monitoring and quality assurance on active construction sites for projects including but not limited to subgrade reviews, pile installation, anchor testing, seepage cutoff wall construction, and geomembrane installation.

  • Develop project-specific design criteria using relevant design codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Collect, review, and organize historical project data, including drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Prepare geotechnical data and design reports as well as provide geotechnical/geological contributions to design documentation reports for multidisciplinary projects.
  • Collaborate with Design Technology staff to prepare and revise project drawings.
  • Communicate directly with multidisciplinary engineering teams to interpret geotechnical/geological conditions and their implications on design and construction.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geological or Civil Engineering (with a geotechnical focus) preferred. A Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering would be considered an asset but is not required.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Professional Engineer (preferably P.E. in at least one State; however, a P.Eng. in at least one Province/Territory would be considered an asset).
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience. Experience with executing subsurface geotechnical investigations for dam projects would be considered a tremendous asset.
  • Proficiency in field logging, classification, in situ and laboratory testing of soil and rock using a variety of drilling and testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with relevant design codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and communicating design intent from contract documents, plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and prioritize effectively.

  • Ability to safely work in a plant environment, meet physical demands, work at elevated heights, and comfortably use PPE and safety equipment (including harnesses with a total maximum weight capacity of 300lbs). Must be familiar with or open to training on proper equipment usage.
  • A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.

PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this level will be focused on insurance claim quantification and include but are not limited to:Consult with claimants/policyholders, counsel and representatives of insurance companiesDetermine financial information required to assess the loss/claimComplete research and investigation related to the claim using the internet and various other internal resourcesDetermine what type of financial analysis to prepare depending on the type of loss/claimPrepare detailed analysis of accounting records and other personal and corporate financial information, including the identification of unusual or unreasonable amounts and/or errorsPrepare financial models forecasting the projected income, absent the loss/claimPresent analysis and research using Microsoft Suite and various other internal software andAssist in the preparation and presentation of loss quantification reports and/or loss review (critique) to lawyers (both plaintiff and defense counsel) and/or insurance adjusters/claims managersExperiences and skills you’ll use to solve:Enrolled in or completed post-secondary educationQualified Canadian CPA or equivalent recognized designation, or commitment to completing the Canadian CPA with all required prerequisite courses completed prior to full-time start dateSolid understanding of accounting conceptsStrong research skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills to articulate issues and ideasHighly detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills; an ability to think broadly and to ask questions about data, facts and other information to deliver quality to our clientsAbility to prioritize and manage deadlines on multiple engagements simultaneouslyAn interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you workShare and collaborate effectively with others, building relationships which are genuine and rooted in trustComfortable travelling to cities across Canada (when deemed safe to do so by applicable public health or regulatory authorities and PwC)Why you’ll love PwCWe’re inspiring and empowering our people to change the world.
