We seek to attract and retain an exceptional and diverse community of high-potential students, providing them with the support, programs and facilities to become the next generation of leaders and innovators.The Senior Tutor has responsibility for the educational support we provide to our students, including primary responsibility for the College’s comprehensive tutorial program, which offers weekly tutorials in over 150 subjects across all disciplines each semester. The Senior Tutor manages a team of seven Academic Heads and 60 tutors, leading the recruitment of new, highly-qualified tutors as required. Through regular interactions with our students and informed management of our programs, the Senior Tutor cultivates an academically-supportive environment.The role is available full time or part time to allow for concurrent academic work. The role is ideally suited to an academic or post-PhD researcher/tutor who wishes to develop their academic leadership experience whilst contributing to the academic and personal development of a community of talented undergraduate students.Key responsibilitiesThe Senior Tutor oversees numerous educational programs within College, including:
- Tutorial Program
- Academic Support Program
- Language Program
- Academic Workshops
The Senior Tutor assists with:
- Short Courses
- Educational Programs (e.g. Humanities for Leadership)
- Guest Speakers
- Departmental Reporting
- Departmental Marketing Activities
- Admissions Interviewing
The Senior Tutor oversees a diverse team including:
- Seven part-time academic staff (Academic Heads)
- Around sixty sessional tutors

- A PhD in any discipline
- Experience teaching at University level, ideally including small group teaching
- The ability to lead and motivate an academic team
Desirable qualities include;

- Excellent time-management skills
- Experience managing programs and competing priorities
- Ability to work collaboratively, innovatively, and with a high degree of initiative
- Writing proficiency

- Ability to manage and analyse data
- Marketing and communications skills
- Enjoy interacting with and supporting young adults
- Desire to immerse themselves in the culture of St Andrew’s
