Job description: Job Title Senior Telecommunications Systems EngineerThe Challenge: We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Communications Systems Engineer to join the Ubiquitous Communication (UC) department to work on exciting national and international collaborative projects involving diverse stakeholders ranging from research to commercial operators in the UK and abroad. Our projects and testbeds offer the unique opportunity to work across a wide range of communication technologies, with a view to design, integrate, test and deploy such systems in various markets to support real applications, on earth and in space. We also work closely with academia and R&D centres to accelerate TRL progression. The team is at the forefront of exploitation of technologies that will underpin the networks of the future.We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who will be involved in a wide range of activities – including technical delivery on projects, technical consultancy to businesses, engagement with universities and R&D centres and working within our facilities with a wide range of professionals in other disciplines. We expect our people to be Pioneering, Agile, Collaborative and Entrepreneurial, working at PACE.Skills & Experience required:PhD/MSc in Telecommunications systems or similar discipline.Extensive experience in the telecommunication or similar domainHands-on experience integrating, deploying and using communication solutionsExpert knowledge of one or more of the following areas – radio, antenna, modems, overall RAN, CNExpert knowledge in AIKnowledge of satcom component systems (payload, ground station, etc)Experience and practical knowledge in developing solutions for end usersProven experience in bid writing and securing fundingExtensive experience working on externally funded collaborative projects with external stakeholdersGood communication skills (verbal and written English)Behaviours expected:Well organised and systematic approach to workCollaborative approach working in harmony with technical and non-technical individualsLeadership qualities in areas of expertiseInquisitive and self-starterAbility to manage own timePassionate about innovationSuccess factors: You know you have been successful when…You have helped a business make use of 5G technology in delivering a solution to the marketYou have found a solution to a thorny technical issue delaying a projectYou have won the respect of external project partners on collaborative projectsYou have mastered and shared your knowledge on a new technology with the teamThe purpose of your new team:What is the overall objective of your team?The UC team is at the forefront of innovation in the connectivity area with technical expertise across 5G, satellite communications, future networks, IoT and terminals. Expected salary: £60000 – 65000 per year
