Job description: Job title: Plumber/General Maintenance TechnicianDepartment: EstatesLocation: Glasgow city centre campus basedSalary: Grade 4 (£27,344 – £30,505) per annum, pro rataContract: PermanentHours: 35 hours per weekApplications are invited for a Plumber/General Maintenance Technician, in the Estates department at GSA.To carry out routine, planned and reactive maintenance works across the campus, as directed by the Maintenance Officer or Maintenance Manager. Working primarily as a sole operator, you will be supported by the Maintenance Officer and Maintenance Manager to provide a planned and reactive plumbing and general repair service across all GSA occupied property including halls of residence.You will be expected to provide information and support during new systems installation and when necessary, liaise with and co-ordinate the work of small teams of external contractors on the School’s water and drainage systems.You will be expected to produce written reports and maintain records associated with legionella management and a working knowledge of basic I.T packages such as Microsoft applications would be advantageous.Person SpecificationThe following experience and qualifications are necessary for the position:

  • A recognised plumbing apprenticeship
  • SVQ 3: SCQF Level
  • Legionella / L8 awareness
  • An effective understanding of health and safety legislation within the construction industry is essential
  • Ability to organise safe methods of working is essential.
  • A broad knowledge of building construction is required
