(pro-rata) + 17% superannuationAbout the opportunityThe is welcoming applications for a Gambling Peer Support Worker, for the South Western Sydney GambleAware Region.The Gambling Peer Support Worker (PSW) will work alongside clinicians and is an integral part of the GambleAware clinical team, The primary responsibility of the PSW will be to engage and support clients, their families and loved ones, who are experiencing gambling harm. The PSW will use their own lived experience with gambling and relevant training to provide support, education, advocacy and guidance to raise awareness of the service and of harm minimisation strategies within the whole of the Southwestern Sydney region The PSW will contribute to care planning and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best outcome for clients and may support clients at various stages of their recovery, including those who are considering initial engagement into receiving support, as well as the provision of aftercare and monitoring post-treatment.The PSW will also provide community engagement activities and presentations across the partnership and attend interagency meetings. They will contribute to further development of best practice by providing an avenue for facilitation and feedback between service staff and clients, as well as between the service and the community we serve.This role will require you at times to share some aspects of your personal gambling story to provide hope, support and inspiration to other people going through the same journey. You will be provided with training and support to do this in a structured way. The role is supported by a supervising clinician, training and a State-wide network of peer workers. This role does not require you to enter gambling venues.Your key responsibilities will be to:develop, foster and maintain relationships with clients while providing individual/group support to people accessing GambleAware service including support to identify and develop personal goals for recovery, support to identify other needs (housing, financial coaching, counselling)assist clients with their treatment journey and wellness planning, maximising client participation in decision making and choices with their careaccompany community engagement officers to community activities and appointments, providing support and information in line with harm reduction principlesactively participate in reflective practice through team meetings, decision-making processes, service planning sessions, supervision, Community of Practice and staff development activities organised by the organisation and GambleAware statewide peer support serviceensure reports, documents, and administrative tasks are accurately completed, appropriately recorded, and stored in line with organisational procedures.To find out more about GambleAware, clickAbout you:The University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity.
