Job description: About us he role will be joining the Professional Services Admin team within the UCL Hawkes Institute which helps facilitate the smooth running of the institute, enhancing its impact. The UCL Hawkes Institute is a multi-disciplinary research grouping at the intersection of UCL’s engineering and health activities that focuses on advancing healthcare technology. The institute capitalises on UCL’s unique combination of research excellence in computational, engineering and medical sciences. Its formation brings together UCL Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC) and Wellcome / EPSRC Centre for Interventional and Surgical Sciences (WEISS) to maximise the synergy between these two existing centres of excellence. A large part of the role will be focus on the work of the new Optical and Acoustic imaging for Surgical and Interventional Sciences (OASIS) Hub. OASIS is an EPSRC-funded programme led by UCL, working closely with the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London, that aims to develop new low-cost, portable devices to identify and visualise cancer using optical, acoustic and photoacoustic imaging. The hub brings together partners from across academia, industry and the NHS to accelerate the development and clinical use of these technologies. It will pave the way for clinical trials and establish new datasets with the aim of making effective and less invasive interventions available to everyone in the UK.About the role The post holder will be responsible for creating and implementing the communications strategies for and leading on all communications activities at the OASIS Hub and the UCL Hawkes Institute. They will work closely with all Hub investigators and researchers and Hawkes academics, researchers, students and the wider professional services team to help maximise the impact of our research. They will act as a point of interface between the OASIS Hub and the UCL Hawkes Institute, the faculty communications team, and the wider UCL and collaborator network of communications and marketing professionals. The Communications Manager will report directly to the Public Engagement Manager and be responsible for the brand and visual identity of the institute, manage all publicity relating to OASIS and Hawkes such as press releases and news articles and maintain communications channels such as UCL websites and social media. This is a fixed-term role until 31 December 2030 in the first instance and is ready to start immediately. This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. They will have proven expertise in writing, editing and proofreading content and communications for diverse audiences. They will have extensive experience organising large-scale events for 100+ attendees, including budgeting, logistics, programme coordination, catering, travel and engagement with senior stakeholders.
