About the opportunityAs the Process Engineer: Optical Lithography, you will be responsible for managing and operating specialised optical lithography equipment and developing and maintaining all optical lithography processes within the Research and Prototype Foundry. Using your technical expertise, you will provide sound, expert technical support and advice to researchers using the facility, aiding the research and providing collaborative research input for projects being undertaken.Your key responsibilities will be to:
- work within a dynamic team, reporting to the Facility and Program Manager, Research & Prototype Foundry
- provide optical lithography research support and assistance to researchers and other technical staff working in the laboratory
- maintain the facility workplace ensuring that the research requirements of the RPF are met effectively
- ensure the laboratory is compliant with all relevant Workplace Health and Safety requirements
- prepare reporting and documentation for the work area
- provide effective leadership and management guidance and support to the staff in the facility
- undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities.
About you
- bachelor’s degree in science or engineering preferred
- demonstrated experience with micro/nanofabrication, micro/nano characterisation and associated processing techniques in a cleanroom environment, in particular optical lithography
- experience in coordinating the day-to-day running of scientific instrumentation in a multiuser facility, including considering longer term outlooks for emerging instruments and/or techniques
- experience in provision of training for students and/or other staff in nanofabrication techniques
- experience in WHS and risk assessment preparation and legislative requirements
- ability to ascertain research trends, methodological developments and the needs of researchers
- good planning, organisation and project management skills with the ability to be able to successfully co-ordinate and support projects to completion
- high level interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with relevant stakeholders, staff, users, supervisors and equipment suppliers
- high-level verbal and written communication skills, especially in scientific communication and the preparation of reports
