  • Exciting Research Officer role supporting a research team focused on developing and evaluating a reablement model of care for residents living with dementia in aged care homes
  • Base Salary $99,455-$107,216 (pro rata for FTE) + 17% superannuation

About the opportunityProfessor Yun-Hee Jeon is an academic and leading researcher with a nursing background in the fields of psychogeriatrics and gerontology. Her research focuses on developing innovative and creative approaches to improving the health and wellbeing of older people.She is recognized for her significant contributions to building the evidence for person-centered care, a philosophy that she says underpins all of her research. “We focus on understanding and addressing the need of an individual and their capacities and capabilities as well as their impairment. Our research investigates care interventions to help older people maintain an optimum level of autonomy and independence despite their clinical condition.”Professor Yun-Hee Jeon is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Research Officer to join her team and assist with data collection (including clinical assessment), literary searches and preliminary reporting.Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • undertake planning and preliminary analysis to investigate and support the scoping of research programs/projects.
  • undertake clinical assessment in aged care
  • carry out literary searches, collect academic papers, code information, summarise literature, etc. for the Chief Investigator and/or Academics of the work area
  • monitor and report progress and key findings to the Chief Investigator or senior research staff about outcomes of experimental work
  • research support, data management, and data collection, storage, maintain asset register and inventory as well as learn and perform/ assist in common research methods under supervision or following work instructions
  • carrying out data analysis (quantitative and qualitative)
  • develop and maintain effective and productive relationships with project stakeholders across the University and external partners, ensuring effective communication and on-going understanding of project status and key requirements.
  • supporting grant applications administration
  • coordinate research workshops and forums
  • other research and office administrative support.

About you

  • Masters degree or PhD in either Allied Health, Nursing, Public Health or related discipline
  • motivated and experienced research officer with interest and passion in academia and research
  • experience in clinical assessment
  • outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operations matters
  • experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, ethics submissions and grant applications
  • proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, and data capture systems
  • proficient in data management software such as SPSS, Redcap, Qualtrics, etc.
  • exceptional attention to detail
  • tertiary qualifications – in a relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
